From Maó (Mahón) there are beaches for every taste less than half an hour away: Es Grau, with the calmest water, 15 minutes away; Binibèquer, next to the white village of Binibeca, also 15; Cala en Porter, between cliffs, 20; and, if you fancy a walk, Cales Coves and the Presili coves by Favàritx lighthouse.
Es Grau
15 minutes (9 km) away, a sheltered bay with water that stays shallow for many metres, restaurants with terraces over the water and bus L23 all year. It is the gateway to s’Albufera des Grau Nature Park.

Binibèquer and Binibeca Vell
15 minutes (10 km) along the Binibèquer road, a beach with the Los Bucaneros beach bar, five minutes’ walk from Binibeca Vell. The Maó–Sant Lluís–Binibèquer bus serves it.
The Binibeca Vell car park fills around 11:00 in summer, and the village can be visited from 10:00 to 22:00.

A day in the south-east: Binibeca, sunset at the Cova d’en Xoroi and the evening in Maó harbour.
Cala en Porter
20 minutes (15 km) via Sant Climent, a sandy beach with facilities between two high cliffs. In one of them is the Cova d’en Xoroi, for sunset from a cave.

Cales Coves: two coves below prehistoric caves
20 minutes away, two joined coves below about 90 burial caves carved into the rock. You walk 15 minutes along a stony path from a free car park, and there are no facilities.
Turn off at the Son Vitamina roundabout and wear closed shoes. More on Cales Coves.
Presili and Tortuga, by Favàritx
Near Favàritx lighthouse, inside the nature park, the Presili and Tortuga coves are reached on foot along the Camí de Cavalls. From mid-May to 30 September you get there on bus L43, which stops at the paths.
From October to mid-May you can drive to Favàritx lighthouse. There are no bars and no shade.
