Premium Maó: art, opera and dinner by the water

A day in Maó and its harbour, premium style, with no queues and no improvising. Start by boat to Illa del Rei, where an 18th-century naval hospital shares the island with the Hauser & Wirth gallery and its designer garden; continue with lunch at one of the Michelin Guide restaurants in the old town, the country's oldest opera house and a cocktail in a fishermen's cave over the water, before dinner at one of the island's most highly rated tables. At every moment, two or three alternatives of the same standard, how to book step by step and what to wear.
