Menorca has a bus network that links Maó and Ciutadella every 30 minutes and, in season, reaches many beaches and two places that are closed to cars in summer: Macarella and Favàritx lighthouse. Timetables change between high and low season and are published on mou-T Menorca, the Consell Insular’s transport website.
The main line: Maó–Ciutadella
It runs every 30 minutes, takes an hour and stops in Alaior, Es Mercadal and Ferreries; the Bus Exprés makes the trip non-stop. In Ciutadella the bus station is a 10-minute walk from the Born.
In Maó, every line ends at the bus station next to s’Esplanada. Timetables in mou-T Menorca’s island lines.
Beach buses from Maó
From Maó bus station: the L23 to Es Grau and the Son Bou line via Alaior, both all year, plus the lines to Sant Lluís and Binibèquer, Sant Climent and Cala en Porter, and Es Castell.
- Es Grau: line L23, more frequent in summer.
- Son Bou: line Maó–Alaior–Son Bou.
- Binibeca: line Maó–Sant Lluís–Binibèquer.
- Cala en Porter: line Maó–Sant Climent–Cala en Porter.
Buses to the coves from Ciutadella
In season, the L68 to Cala Turqueta and the L69 to Macarella leave from the ring road (avinguda Josep Mascaró Passarius). Other lines go to Cala en Bosc and Son Xoriguer, and to Cala Galdana via Ferreries.
Cala Galdana can also be reached from Maó and Ferreries, and from there Cala Mitjana is a 20–30 minute walk.

The Macarella bus (L69)
From 1 June to 30 September it is the only way to reach Macarella without walking: it leaves Ciutadella from 8:25, takes about 25 minutes and costs €4.60 one way or €8.40 return.
In July and August the last bus back leaves around 20:20. Take one of the first buses: by mid-morning Macarella is full. Timetables on mou-T’s Macarella bus page.

Favàritx and Punta Nati
The L43 goes from Maó to Favàritx lighthouse from mid-May to 30 September (€3.60; first departure around 9:45 and last return around 19:45). For Punta Nati, in July and August, a sunset shuttle bus leaves Ciutadella; booking required.

Using the bus without surprises
Check the day’s timetable on mou-T, since it changes with the season; get to beach stops early in summer and note the time of the last bus back. You pay on board or with a transport card.
A direct bus runs from the airport to Maó bus station: airport bus. To get back at night, Radio Taxi Menorca: 971 367 111 (Maó) and 971 482 222 (Ciutadella).
